UNITE: The new Socialist Party-initiated campaign to stop the rip-off of casual and part-time workers and to name and shame dodgy bosses

Comrades
The SP in Melbourne has started a campaign for the industrial rights of part-time and casual workers. 26% of Australians (the second highest in the world) are casually employed.
Well done to Nicki Jonas for her great media interviews on JJJ and ABC Radio on Tuesday morning 19th August. She got the ideas out to thousands of people.
Most don't even get or are aware of their basic six rights in industrial law.
We are on the streets letting people know their rights, and naming and shaming dodgy bosses via posters, the media, and direct action. We are encouraging trade unionism and support the recently established Victorian Unionists Network.
Last Friday night we campaigned on Brunswick St, Fitzroy with leaflets, petition, and a big Name and Shame board and got a great response despite the rain.
Now we are going to move to a letter to all bosses in that area formally asking if they meet their legal industrial and health and safety requirments to their employees. If not they will be aggressively targetted.
Come to the Campaign Launch if you want to hear your rights, exchange experiences, and get involved or hear about the campaign.
This Tuesday, 19th August, 7pm Trades Hall with a follow-up launch the next evening at Preston Library, 266 Gower St, Preston from 6.30pm.
Next action this Friday 6pm corner Brunswick Sts/Johnston Sts, Fitzroy
