Come to the UNITE RALLY... SATURDAY NOVEMBER 13th BRUNSWICK ST, FITZROY Featuring ... Dodgy Boss name and Shame!... Howard's Unfair dismissal laws will see casualisation of the workforce sky-rocket! If this goes through workers will be further exploited, less likely to speak out - workers conditions will inevitably be lower than ever. Workers cannot rely on the benevolence of their bosses to make sure their are treated fairly!
Howard Promotes AWA's - and attacks collective action, the minimum wage and unions! AWA's the only legal agreement which can lower your pay and conditions. Bosses in hospitality, like those on Brunswick street are on a mad dash to get their workers to sign on, and sign away their rights If they sign they will miss out on the common law changes - such as penalty rates - when State Industry Sector is abolished (Vic.) on January 1st, 2005 Unite seeks to help workers celebrate the new year... and we are warning workers that if they sign they will miss out on: penalty rates, compensation for working unsociable hours, paid overtime and many other improved conditions and protections - which are long overdue in this highly casualised industry Bosses in cafe strips like Brunswick Street, are some of the worst... involving young people, the un-unionised and often in smaller workplaces (although many places are owned by a parent company )- are a hot bed of exploitation virtually unchecked for years. Howards attacks on workers, on casualisaing the workforce, are attacks on us all. Join us at the UNiTE Rally Rally features - Dodgy Boss Name and Shame, Key Union Organisers and Leaders, community groups, information on your rights!
